Botox--the scoop

So you may have heard of Botox, but you really don’t know that much about it. Is it safe? Is it affordable? What are the benefits? We’re here to give you the scoop! At Fuel Salon and Spa, we use Botox Cosmetic OnabotulinumtoxinAinjection. This is probably the most well-known with the best track record. We like to use premium products at Fuel.

Safety

If you haven’t tried botox because you’re skeptical about its safety, that’s a legitimate concern. Botox contains Botulinum toxin, which blocks certain chemical signals from nerves, mostly signals that cause muscles to contract. The most common use of these injections is to temporarily relax the facial muscles that underlie and cause wrinkles, such as:

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows

  • Crow's-feet, the lines that fan out from the corners of the eyes

  • Forehead furrows

Because the Botulinum toxin is given in such small doses, it is considered safe, when given by a licensed professional.

Benefits

Why do people get botox? If you’re a youngin', then you might not know because you think don’t need to yet. On the contrary, many young people are using Botox as a preventative measure to avoid wrinkles. Additionally, Botox is used to treat wrinkles, primarily in the forehead, on the outside of the eyes (crowsfeet), and between the eyes. Even though Botox is used to fight signs of aging, it has other motivations for use. Botox is used to treat conditions such as: cervical dystonia, lazy eye, muscle contractures, hyperhidrosis, chronic migraine, bladder dysfunction, and eye twitching. Some people chronically scowl or squint their eyes. Botox can help with that, which can also reduce stress headaches.

Is it affordable?

At Fuel Salon and Spa, we have a registered nurse that administers botox treatments. Each unit is $10 for new clients and $11 for returning clients. In each session, a client will receive between 30-40 units. Lastly, it usually will last 3-4 months. Many places charge between $11/unit-$14/unit. To answer whether botox is affordable, it’s a subjective question really. To some, that might be out of budget, while others will find that to be more than reasonable.

Now that you know a little more about Botox, you might have even more questions. Or you might be ready to go for it. Wherever you are, feel free to reach out to us to schedule your appointment or to ask questions. At Fuel Salon and Spa, we’re dedicated to giving you the best treatment possible and our botox treatments are administered by a registered nurse.
