Who doesn’t long for longer, fuller lashes? If you’re anything like us, you’ve seen a thousand products that make this promise, and inevitably, break it. And as if having trust issues isn’t enough, your pocketbook is now empty. Let us tell you why Lash Lifts are the way to go.
WHAT is a Lash Lift?
You may not have even heard the term, Lash Lift. You might be familiar with lash extensions and false lashes, but lash lifts are new to you. Basically a lash lift is where you lie a silicon pad on your eyelid to protect it, then put solution and tint on the lash bending them toward the eyelid, making them curl up, similar to an eyelash curler, but lasting much longer. Further, if you get the keratin treatment, it also functions like a volumizer. You can think of this process as similar to a perm to your hair.
Are they safe?
You’re probably wondering if lash lifts have adverse effects to your lashes. While we can’t guarantee there won’t be an adverse reaction to the solution, we try to limit these risks by doing a 24 hour patch test first. That way we know if you’re going to have a reaction. If there is a reaction, it’s usually to the tint, rather than the lift, but it has been known to happen.
With most things beauty related, there’s a cost, and we’re not talking about your pocketbook. Just as adding color or highlights to your hair can damage your hair, so too can having your lashes lifted. Every person is different as no two bodies are the same. Some may have a bad reaction to the chemicals used during the lash lifting process, while others aren’t affected at all. The most important thing to remember is to go to a licensed aesthetician for the process. Leave the DIY to home projects.
What’s the cost?
At Fuel Salon and Spa, the cost for the lift and tint is $75. If you just want the lift, it’s $60. The actual process takes about 45 minutes to an hour.
How long do they last?
Nothing good lasts forever. On average, a lash lift will last anywhere from 6-8 weeks. Like anything beauty related, it will really depend on the home care. Oil based makeup can interfere with the solution, making it more difficult for it to stick to the lashes. Further, you may want to stay away from waterproof mascara, as it usually requires an oil based makeup remover to get it off. Our aestheticians recommend using lash conditioners or serums, which helps keep the lashes healthy!
